Check out Kanchana doing split squats with 80kgs. The fact that she can do this means she can
- deadlift at least 80kgs off the floor. Or pick up a box that's 80kgs off the floor. Can you do that?
- hold 80kgs in her hands for more than 20 seconds. That's a whole lot of grip strength.
- and of course, moving up and down with that weight means she is strong enough to. And extremely stable enough to do that. Her whole body is one unit that provides her the base of support to do an amazing strength move.

Women and strength training is a battle due to a lot of misguided opinions and myths. Strength training is something that will be beneficial for everyone! If you aren't doing it, see how you can do it. It will be the single-best thing you do for your health and fitness.

What can you expect
- you will get strong. Duh
- you will put on muscle. But you wont necessarily get big, unless that's your goal. And by the way, getting big is not easy or simple. It is a whole lot of work.
- you will find everyday life much simpler and easier to deal with
- you wont need the cabbie to load your suitcase into the cab. you won't need help putting your bag into the overhead compartment when flying. you wont need anyone doing your work for you, coz you are strong!

So, be inspired! Lift some iron.

Wow!!! I actually can lift my suitcase and load it into the car. Usually about 25-30 kg.... does it mean I am strong? Enough? Hehe. Seriously though, if we have shoulder/ neck problems, would lifting weights make it worse or better?
